Sony Ericsson has unveiled its Project Capuchin initiative, aimed to merge Java ME and Flash Lite for mobile devices and enable a robust multimedia experience. The project will allow Java ME programmers to embed Flash Lite content within applications, bringing both technologies to a new level on mobile devices.
Project Capuchin will be demonstrated at the JavaOne Developer Event in San Francisco, California, taking place May 6-9, 2008. A new set of tools, called Sony Ericsson Developer World tools, will bridge the gap between Java ME and Flash Lite developers, making it easy for them to work together on rich media experiences for mobile devices. Java ME is the most widely supported programming language for mobile phone applications, and Project Capuchin aims to make it quick and easy to bring Flash Lite content to handsets that support Java ME.
